After undergoing chiropractic and spinal manipulation sessions, will the vertebrae return to their proper position? And after treatment, is it possible for the problem to recur and for me to experience it again?
The answer is: Yes, the condition improves significantly, but “returning to proper position” depends on the nature of the original problem and your lifestyle after treatment.
Here are the details in simple terms to help you understand how chiropractic manual therapy works:
For reservations and communication
In cases of mild or severe compression (stiffness): Yes, the sessions help realign the vertebrae to their correct mechanical position, reducing pressure on the nerves and improving mobility, making you feel like you’ve been restored to your normal state.
In cases of severe disc herniation or degeneration (osteoarthritis): Manual therapy does not reposition the disc or the degenerated vertebra, but it elevates the vertebrae to redistribute the load on the spine, thus reducing pain and inflammation and restoring your ability to resume your normal life.
The answer is yes, the complaint can very easily recur in the following cases:
1- Neglecting therapeutic exercises: The sessions place the vertebrae in their correct, natural position, but it is the muscles that stabilize them. If your back muscles are weak, the vertebrae can shift out of place again.
2- Bad habits: If you return to sitting for long periods in an incorrect posture, or lifting heavy weights improperly, the problem will recur.
3- Not completing the treatment plan: Stopping the sessions as soon as the pain disappears and before the condition is “stabilized” often leads to a relapse.

Core Exercises: Focus on strengthening your abdominal and back muscles, as they act as a natural “safety belt” for your spine.
Adjust your work ergonomics and avoid neck strain: Ensure your monitor and chair are positioned so your spine is in a comfortable position.
Drink water and move: Cartilage needs hydration and regular movement to remain flexible.
Important Note: Manual therapy should be performed by a certified specialist, which is where we excel. Misdiagnosis or harsh treatment in some cases can lead to adverse outcomes.
